About The Position

We are seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain a unified enterprise data lake that brings together data from our manufacturing, operational, and business systems. Reporting directly to the Director of Software Development, this individual contributor will develop and document technical architecture, integration patterns, and governance of our data platform, enabling analytics, reporting, and future AI/ML initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, architecture, and business impact, and who enjoys shaping strategy while remaining deeply hands-on.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or analytics platform design.
  • Hands-on experience building enterprise data lakes or large-scale data integration platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based data services (Azure preferred), including storage, data pipelines, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience integrating ERP, manufacturing, or operational systems into analytics platforms.
  • Proficiency with SQL and at least one programming language.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and access control models.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with streaming data, IoT, or shop-floor data sources preferred.
  • Azure certifications (Data Engineer Associate, Solutions Architect) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a centralized data lake that integrates data from ERP, MES, manufacturing equipment, IoT, quality systems, supply chain, and business applications.
  • Define data ingestion, transformation, and storage patterns to support structured and semi-structured data.
  • Establish scalable architectures that support analytics, reporting, and advanced use cases (forecasting, optimization, AI/ML).
  • Lead development of data pipelines using modern integration tools and frameworks.
  • Integrate real-time and batch data sources into the data lake.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across all ingestion workflows.
  • Define data models, naming conventions, metadata standards, and data lineage practices.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to implement data governance, access controls, and security policies.
  • Monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and cost of the data platform.
  • Design fault-tolerant, resilient data pipelines with monitoring and alerting.
  • Establish backup, recovery, and data retention strategies.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for data architecture and integration.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers, analysts, and developers on data best practices and platform usage.
