About The Position

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Engineer I-IV based at our Greenville, NC Warehouse Product Development Center. What you will do: Design & Development: Design and develop hydraulic components, assemblies, and systems that meet performance, durability, and reliability requirements. Documentation: Prepare engineering specifications, drawings, and supporting documents required for manufacturing, service, and product release. Prototype Support: Order prototype parts, support prototype builds, and evaluate early design performance. Manufacturing Collaboration: Ensure designs support efficient, cost‑effective manufacturing processes and provide engineering support during pilot builds and initial production. Level II Additions: Take on more complex hydraulic component and assembly design with increasing autonomy. Coordinate portions of project work to ensure timely, accurate task completion. Provide guidance or support to junior team members where needed. Level III Additions: Lead system‑level hydraulic design work in addition to components and assemblies. Oversee integration activities, prototype planning, and more complex validation efforts. Provide supervision, mentorship, and coordination across sections of project teams. Contribute to concept development aligned with product strategy. Level IV Additions: Develop hydraulic design concepts and system architectures that guide major program or project decisions. Lead the design, evaluation, and optimization of full vehicle systems. Deliver documentation supporting engineering, manufacturing, service, and marketing needs. Partner cross‑functionally to optimize products for cost, manufacturability, and efficiency. Identify and leverage emerging technologies to support long-term product strategy. Provide technical leadership and direction to engineering teams. Support strategy development at the component and system level.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of engineering principles; internship or project experience is a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year of industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of drafting practices and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Basic proficiency with CAD tools used for creating models and design layouts.
  • Understanding of engineering analysis fundamentals and how to apply them to component or system design.
  • Growing proficiency in CAD modeling, design layouts, drafting practices, and engineering analysis.
  • Basic familiarity with hydraulic systems.
  • Introductory understanding of design principles, industry regulations, and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in drafting, CAD, engineering analysis, and design layout creation.
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems for industrial equipment, vehicle/automotive technology and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to apply design principles more independently and support complex engineering tasks.
  • Expert‑level capability in drawing practices, CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and design layout development.
  • Specialized knowledge of industrial equipment hydraulic systems, vehicle/automotive systems, manufacturing technology, and design/test practices.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and the ability to incorporate them into design decisions.
  • Basic skills in scheduling, supervision, and technical leadership.
