About The Position

Intercontinental Exchange presents a unique opportunity for a full-time Systems Engineer to join a high-performance team of engineers responsible for the design, implementation, and support of mission-critical infrastructure. The Systems Engineer contributes to ensuring high availability and performance across multiple production and nonproduction environments that support core ICE businesses globally. This role involves collaborating with developers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of delivered platforms while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The position requires hands-on technical expertise, including infrastructure support, root cause analysis, platform automation, and active engagement in technical discourse with peers.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering / Development
  • 4+ years of experience with the Linux Operating System (RedHat variants preferred)
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Solid Linux administration skills including system configuration, package management, and performance fundamentals
  • Demonstrable experience coding with any one or combination of Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, etc.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of git, Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD, and similar tooling
  • Familiarity with multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient infrastructure platform design
  • Understanding of enterprise architectural concepts including DNS, authentication, logging, monitoring, and alerting
  • Familiarity with horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
  • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Customer focus and dedication to the best possible user experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical business peers
  • Understanding of core system security and hardening concepts and processes

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the creation, support, and deployment of Podman/Docker containers
  • Working knowledge of the setup and configuration of Kubernetes and orchestration platforms such as OpenShift, Tanzu, or equivalent
  • Experience reviewing and enforcing system configurations against compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with Grafana, Tableau, or other enterprise reporting tools
  • Ability to specify hardware requirements and make recommendations based on application needs

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, planning, and implementation of server and application delivery solutions
  • Tune and maintain systems infrastructure for maximum available performance
  • Automate manual tasks using scripting and application development
  • Investigate and adopt new technologies and tools as needs arise
  • Respond to and assist with production operations in a 24/7 environment
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions
  • Provide support to and coordinate with Developers, Operations staff, and End-Users
  • Support streamlined application deployments as part of the overall SDLC
  • Participate in infrastructure lifecycle activities, including procurement, buildout, ongoing hygienic support, and decommission
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support and change events
  • Share knowledge with team members and operations staff on Linux and Windows infrastructure and deployment methodologies
