About The Position

Performs a variety of aircraft systems engineering work including design, analysis, substantiation, certification, and drawing interpretation as related to transport category aircraft systems modifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of engineering design or analysis experience.
  • Experience with commercial aircraft (Airbus or Boeing) required.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs - from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.
  • Familiarity with the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and technical publications (i.e.: Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC).
  • Experience creating engineering details, assemblies and installation drawings using AutoCAD/Inventor and standard engineering drawing convention.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze aircraft systems and components, typically in support of aircraft interior modifications (STC projects), including vacuum and water/waste, air conditioning, fire protection and oxygen systems.
  • Work independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding scope and parameters.
  • Prepare systems modification/installation/fabrication drawings, engineering reports and work instructions.
  • Participate in design reviews and presentations with suppliers, customers, and various internal departments to obtain input on, agreement with, and understanding of project objectives and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot aircraft issues during STC prototype and post STC using standard testing tools and methods.
