About The Position

Responsibility for the completion of tool layout engineering, tooling BOM, support of Purchasing in tool quoting and procurements activities, tool performance analysis during manufacturing, etc. in accordance with specification, quality, schedule and budget requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; plus three or more years of machine tool design experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work with basic algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to perform all lower engineering disciplines, meet strict timetable and budgetary limits with quality results and evaluate the performance of subordinates to attain the best effort.
  • Knowledgeable in word processing, and spreadsheet software preferably in Microsoft OFFICE.
  • May be required to travel for extended periods of time.
  • May require temporary work assignments at customer of other MAG Powertrain Technologies facilities.
  • Travel to customer plant locations and subcontractors will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with computer aided design is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all work following documented departmental procedures and work instructions and utilizing the appropriate forms
  • Directs the design in accordance with the proposal, sales order, company standards and procedures, customer specification and the machine qualification requirements.
  • Maintains tooling BOM, budget and schedule commitment.
  • Assists Mechanical Project Engineer with answering after sales change requests.
  • Assist Sales and Proposal Engineering in quoting new projects where applicable.
  • Generates and maintains appropriate records, reports and required documentation.
  • Manages tool layout engineering subcontractors.
  • Arranges tooling design review meeting with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
  • Adheres to quality, customs, foreign trade zone and environmental processes and procedures.
  • Manages suppliers of all project-related tooling.
  • Assists manufacturing in tooling analysis / development during equipment certification.
  • Informs appropriate management of all job activities
  • Seeks new innovations, components, etc. for integration into current design projects.
  • Shares ideas about process improvements and other cost saving measures with management.
