Requirements

  • Deep understanding of metal casting processes (e.g., sand casting, investment casting, or die casting).
  • Proficiency in tooling and pattern management, including overseeing external pattern shops and managing tooling lifecycles
  • Knowledge of metallurgy, gating/feeding systems, and dimensional control for high-quality castings.
  • Experience with ERP systems (like Odyssey) for maintaining data integrity, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and revisions.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Directing and mentoring teams of engineers and technical staff to meet product and production goals.
  • Process Excellence: Designing and refining manufacturing processes for optimal safety, quality and efficiency.
  • New Product Launch (NPL): Overseeing Grede GPS process execution and reporting.
  • Operational Strategy: Managing budgets, capital investment projects (equipment upgrades), and tracking departmental KPIs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all operations adhere to strict environmental and industrial safety standards.
  • Consult and advise Quality and Foundry engineering departments on issues concerning foundry processes.
  • Provide technical assistance to foundry operations to resolve in house and customer quality problems.
  • Ensure a competent staff is maintained to meet both short and long-term objectives.
  • Prepare the department budget; administer and control the approved budget during the business year.
  • Monitor process variables and advise improvements.
  • Evaluate techniques and processes through pilot runs and prepare cost/benefit and value analysis.
  • Assist in solving customer quality-related problems.
  • Spearhead detailed efforts on advanced quality planning on new and existing parts.
