Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: · Responsible for all testing activities for existing and new products from the Xylem SFC Product range. · Manages the departmental budget and resource scheduling, ensuring that testing projects are delivered on time and within financial parameters. This includes optimizing labor hours, managing equipment expenditures, and aligning lab capacity with engineering priorities. · Works closely with product team members to help define product Qualification Test Specifications / Test Plan. · Conducts testing with minimal direction and supervision, in accordance with standard and non-standard test procedures for product performance, design verification, validation, and endurance testing. · Develops, builds, and maintains test stations and test setups consisting of electrical equipment, wiring, plumbing, gauges, transducers, relays, timers, valves, PLC’s etc., as needed to perform the requested testing. · Responsible for running and monitoring the tests, the accuracy of the test results, collecting and appropriately storing test records, and rapid communication of findings. · Must produce professional reports to document testing and test data. · Must conduct work in a safe and careful manner and maintain a clean and organized work area. · Must be able to work well in a team environment and provide direction, coaching and informal training to Direct Reports. · Provides investigation, analysis and solutions to technical problems encountered by engineering services, quality control, marketing, procurement and manufacturing departments using the application of engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. · Maintains and develops lab related work instructions, procedures, and equipment manuals. · Specifies materials and supplies needed to support lab functions. · Carries out additional tasks typically associated with engineering lab operations, as well as any duties assigned by the Engineering Manager. ESH Responsibilities – Local Coordinator: · Enforces ESH requirements / procedures in areas you have direct responsibility for. · Verifies ESH training, as required by the Company & Regulation, is completed and documentation is maintained. · Works with site management and safety committee to develop and implement strategies, policies, and services to increase employee safety & reduce organization risks. · Participates in monthly management meetings to review ESH KPI’s/Accountability/zero initiative goals, targets & objectives, progress and KPIs. · Prepares the required internal safety forms for accidents and incidents occurring at facility. · Conducts department safety inspection on a regular basis, using the preprinted checklist as a guide. · Maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals in the facilities. · Ensures that hazardous-waste disposal is handed in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. · Decision Making Authorities: Makes recommendations to the Engineering team on testing procedures and equipment. Interpretes test results and ensures the timely communication of accurate project outcomes. Money and Budgets: Limited direct spending authority or authorization limited to the job’s scope and contribution to milestone completion. Supervisory: Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to Associate Engineers and Lab Technicians. Key Relationships: External: Occasional contact with external suppliers and customers on routine matters Internal: Interacts with all internal cross functions including Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management and Sales Key Competencies: Must have a developed and proficient knowledge and competent understanding of engineering standards, principles and theories to complete engineering tasks assigned. Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification: Required Qualifications: Requires B.S. degree, preferably in Engineering or in a technical area of science and research and 5 years of working experience in the related fields, or a MS degree with 2 years of experience in the related fields. Experience in machining (milling, turning, drilling, grinding etc.) is desirable. Must have advanced understanding of valves, pumps, electric motors, and / or other electromechanical products to design and develop test stations/setups. Proficient in Data Acquisition / National Instruments LabView software and PLC programming. Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point to record data, produce graphs/charts and professional reports. Familiar with third party testing such as vibration, shock, thermal cycling, electrical safety, EMC, agency compliance, etc.) Familiar with product compliance standards such as ISO, IEC, EN, CSA, UL, etc. Travel requirements: Minimal Work Environment & Physical Requirements Adaptability: Ability to perform effectively in diverse settings, including corporate offices, laboratories, and manufacturing & research facilities. Physical Agility: Must be comfortable kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing ladders as needed. Manual Handling: Capability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 40 lbs. Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills are essential for daily tasks. Safety Compliance: Must be willing to wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
