Requirements

  • Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in automotive, manufacturing, or packaging engineering roles with a focus on container design and logistics, or a related technical field.
  • Years of Experience required in type of role: 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment, preferably in a packaging/container engineering role.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5), SAP, and container lifecycle management; strong understanding of JIT/JIS processes and automotive standards.
  • Compliance: Solid understanding of safety, environmental, and quality regulations relevant to automotive packaging and material‑handling systems, ensuring all container and rack designs meet required industry standards.
  • Problem‑Solving: Demonstrate strong analytical skills to assess complex challenges and develop innovative, cost‑effective container and rack solutions that support operational efficiency and manufacturing requirements.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 5% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Passport required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with: automotive container design, packaging engineering, or material flow planning
  • Familiarity with: SAP, container lifecycle management, and logistics optimization tools.
  • Proficiency in: CAD software (CATIA V5) and understanding of JIT/JIS processes.
  • An understanding of: sustainability practices, ergonomics, and cost analysis in packaging design
  • Soft skills: Strong problem-solving ability, adaptability, and effective communication across teams

Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Lead and coordinate the end‑to‑end design and development of both special and universal containers for automotive applications, delivering optimized solutions for single and welding parts in the body shop as well as single and module parts in assembly operations.
  • JIS Modules/Racks: Develop and optimize Just‑In‑Sequence (JIS) modules and racks engineered for efficient handling, transport, and storage of single and welding parts, ensuring full compatibility with the precise sequencing and material‑flow requirements of automotive production processes.
  • Alternative Packaging Development: Design and validate alternative packaging concepts, including one‑way packaging solutions, to support flexible, cost‑effective, and logistics‑friendly handling of components across the supply chain.
  • Automotive Standards: Ensure all container and rack designs meet automotive industry regulations and are fully optimized for the specific handling, protection, and transport requirements of welding parts, single parts, and module components.
  • Cross‑Functional Integration: Collaborate closely with engineering, logistics, and production teams to ensure container and rack designs integrate seamlessly into the vehicle manufacturing process, with a particular focus on the efficient and safe handling of welding parts and single parts.
  • Quality, Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation in container and rack design to enhance durability, safety, and cost‑effectiveness, with a dedicated focus on meeting the specific technical and operational needs of single and welding parts in automotive production environments.
