About The Position

As an Engineering Manager - CFD Lead you will lead a high-performing team of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis engineers supporting the design and development of conventional marine internal combustion engines, drive systems, electrified propulsion and vessels. This ideal candidate must bring a blend of deep CFD expertise, strong people‑leadership skills, and a passion for elevating engineering analysis capabilities across the organization. You'll coach engineers through challenging analysis problems, guide long‑term technical vision, and partner closely with cross‑functional design, test, and manufacturing teams to influence product architecture and ensure robust engineering decisions. At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • 3+ years of experience in leading/managing a group of engineers performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using STAR CCM+ or similar commercial software.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of fluid mechanics, turbomachinery, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
  • Exposure to numerical methods and engineering analysis.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to share analysis results and drive discussions.

Nice To Haves

  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in fluid dynamics and heat transfer, multiphase flows, IC engines and e-Machines.
  • Usage of High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster with Linux OS and Slurm Scheduler.
  • Knowledge of test instrumentation (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, etc).
  • Working knowledge of conventional internal combustion engines and marine propulsion systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary technical expert for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), including internal flow, external aero/hydrodynamics, conjugate heat transfer (CHT), multiphase flow, rotating machinery, and transient flows.
  • Develop and validate advanced analysis methodologies that support engine, drive system, and structural component development.
  • Provide guidance on physics modeling approaches, boundary conditions, solver strategies, mesh methodologies, and result interpretation to ensure analysis accuracy and robustness.
  • Lead the CFD technical execution of major product development programs, ensuring simulation strategies align with system‑level functional requirements, risks, and program timing.
  • Lead and develop CFD analysts, providing coaching/guidance on modeling approaches, simulation setup, scripting, correlation techniques, interpretation of results, building deep internal expertise.
  • Manage and balance the workload for a group of 4–6 analysts, ensuring high‑quality deliverables and on‑time execution.
  • Work closely with design and development engineers to help provide design input and perform trade-off studies that will improve the product.
  • Work with cross-functional groups, including design, development, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of analysis results into the product development cycle.
  • Perform regular peer reviews and technical discussions of ongoing simulations to maintain rigor, consistency, documentation quality and best practices.
  • Identify potential areas for new method development and work with experts to test and deploy.
  • Continuously seeking opportunities for improving analysis processes, tools, and methodologies.
