Requirements

  • Background in building high availability and mission-critical systems
  • Experience leading an engineering team
  • Ability leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives
  • Experience driving highly cross-functional efforts
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
  • 8+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ years of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 4+ years of post-grad software development experience
  • 1+ years of experience as a manager for an engineering team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ops-heavy systems/products
  • Experience with user-facing systems, especially in Search, Ads, Recommendation domains

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers working on the feed recommendation user-facing service foundation
  • Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to alter the tech debt accumulated in content recommendation services, as well as decoupling ranking and product development
  • Bring Snap’s content recommendation systems to surpass industry north stars
  • Collaborate with broader core and ML infra teams to build a strategic roadmap and solid adoption sequence with limited resources across the board
  • Hire, grow, and retain high-performing team members
