About The Position

The Engineering Manager, Design Engineering in Simpsonville, SC is a key technical and people leader responsible for shaping how engineering capability is built, deployed, and scaled across cable harness and integrated assembly design and manufacturing. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers who support the full lifecycle of work—from developing technically sound proposal solutions, to planning and implementing those solutions upon contract award, through execution on the factory floor. You’ll set the technical direction for engineering processes, work instructions, materials selection, and regulatory compliance, while establishing strong internal relationships and standardized practices that enable consistent, high-quality outcomes. Beyond technical oversight, this role is central to creating an integrated, high-performing site leadership team. You will partner closely with Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to balance quality, cost, and delivery commitments while driving continuous improvement across the business. As a people-focused leader, you’ll recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent, coach teams through Lean initiatives, and introduce new technologies and process improvements aligned to business goals. Success in this role requires a hands-on leader who can navigate a dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities, and confidently represent the organization with customers—helping position the Simpsonville site for long-term growth and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Prior experience leading and motivating a team with competing priorities, clearly articulating goals and objectives
  • Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and providing strong leadership to a wide group of engineering professionals
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary professional representation to customers
  • Lead areas of engineering, processes, work instructions, quality requirements, materials selection, and regulatory requirements
  • Help to develop and enforce standardized engineering practices, processes, tools and methods across all value streams
  • Sustainment and execution of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements
  • Support the recruitment, development and retention of engineering talent
  • Develop engineers in key technology and skill sets which are critical for the group’s success
  • Lead engineering tier meetings and coach team members through continuous improvement
  • Identify, investigate and implement new technology to address business goals
  • Work with managers of other disciplines within the business to ensure the overall quality, cost, and delivery of services
  • Assist in the preparation of general business plans, manpower plans and engineering schedules in accordance with program expectations
  • Identify, assess feasibility, and manage change for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the acquisition of new business through customer dialogue, technical presentations, and written proposal generation
  • Manage projects and lead Continuous Improvement within the engineering department
  • Support the Continuous Improvement projects and quality improvement efforts across all functions of the organization as appropriate
  • Utilize Lean principles to coach team members: 5S Workplace Organization, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory Management, Error Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen, Kanban/Pull Systems, Set-Up Reduction, and Standard Work
