About The Position

The Engineering Manager at New Bern is responsible for managing the mill’s process control team as well as a project engineering team investing an annual capital budget of $10-15MM or more. This position will report to the Mill Manager and will manage 8 team members. New Bern is a single line, fully integrated pulp mill, producing around 300,000 tons per year of bleached absorbent pulp for customers such as Unicharm, Kimberly Clark, and Proctor and Gamble, staffed by approximately 353 team members. Develop schedules and provide documentation to demonstrate compliance with company and agency requirements. Support and assume responsibility for the overall leadership of the engineering department. Establish department goals and objectives to align with those of the mill. Develop and execute engineering plans designed to meet safety, environmental, quality and cost and safety commitments. Support mill mechanical integrity and facility preservation programs through project prioritization and coordination. Interface and work with facility insurer (FM Global) and state jurisdictional agency for facility assets, protection, and permitting. Capital projects, facility planning, updates and implementation. Engineering: capital projects, major maintenance, process controls, and mechanical integrity programs. Enhance performance and product quality ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Generate input on new equipment purchases and major modifications of existing equipment. Develop succession plans within department. Coordinate with safety manager to ensure equipment is in suitable condition and properly being used, handled, and stored. Direct engineering prioritization, planning, and execution for the mill. Prepare budgets for mill equipment, capital projects, and the allocation of major construction and maintenance projects between contractors and maintenance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in pulp and paper or manufacturing industry
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization and planning skills
