About The Position

You will oversee team members and collaborate with Product Managers and other Engineering Managers across different squads to define project goals, requirements, and technical specifications. Your leadership and technical expertise will be crucial in shaping our engineering projects and helping us achieve our overall objectives. Ongoing professional development is vital within the team, and ensuring engineers’ growth is essential. Our practices include pair programming, refactoring, code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, TDD/BDD, A/B testing, and continuous delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or similar role.
  • At least 5 years experience in software engineering.
  • Collaboration skills to build tight-knit relationships across FYUL.
  • Empathy, integrity, and the capacity to develop and maintain a healthy team environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • A track record of delivering complex projects within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Experience in prioritizing and managing planned and unplanned work effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to find the best paths for your team, domain, and the company.
  • Flexibility and openness to new approaches when faced with challenges.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of engineers, ensuring they have the resources, mentorship, and technical guidance to excel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, to align goals and drive scalable, high-performance rendering solutions.
  • Champion best practices in graphics engineering, from accurate color management to optimized rendering pipelines, ensuring the team delivers robust, maintainable, and performant systems.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, bringing insights from the latest in rendering technology, PBR, ICC profiles, and Rust development to continuously elevate our engineering standards.
  • Define and track engineering success metrics, ensuring the team’s progress aligns with the company’s vision and technical excellence goals.
  • Drive technical hiring efforts, attracting and retaining top-tier Rust and PHP engineers with a passion for graphics programming.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture, where collaboration, learning, and innovation are at the core of how the team operates.
  • Ensure the engineering team has a clear roadmap, balancing long-term architecture goals with near-term execution.
