About The Position

The Engineering Manager at PROPWR is responsible for leading the engineering function supporting power generation systems across design, integration, testing, and field execution. This role provides both technical leadership and people management, ensuring engineering deliverables align with operational needs, safety standards, and business objectives. The Engineering Manager partners closely with Operations, Field Leadership, Vendors, and ProPwr stakeholders while developing and mentoring a high performing engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • 7+ years of experience in power systems or electrical engineering roles, with people leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with power generation equipment, including reciprocating generators and/or turbines.
  • Proven experience with AC systems up to 15kV and DC systems up to 120V.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NESC, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing electrical single‑line and three‑line diagrams.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Hands‑on field experience troubleshooting medium‑voltage equipment.
  • Proficient with electrical measurement tools and instrumentation.
  • Experience with Visio, SmartDraw, electrical CAD software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership, delegation, and communication skills with a high sense of ownership.
  • Collaborative, action‑oriented, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require.
  • Must exhibit strong leadership qualities and the ability to effectively manage a team of engineers both in person and remotely

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of power systems engineers supporting system design, integration, testing, and field operations.
  • Own engineering execution across multiple projects, including timelines, milestones, and technical deliverables.
  • Oversee system‑level and sub‑system‑level integration testing, commissioning, and validation of power generation equipment.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation including integration drawings, single‑line diagrams, test plans, SOPs, and technical standards.
  • Provide technical oversight and escalation support for field troubleshooting of medium‑ and low‑voltage power systems.
  • Partner with Operations, Field Leadership, HR, and Recruiting to support staffing needs, onboarding, and engineering readiness.
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface with vendors and third‑party suppliers.
  • Identify technical risks and drive mitigation strategies to ensure system reliability, safety, and compliance.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop training materials and deliver technical training to engineering and field teams as needed.
  • Act as supervisory direct report for assigned personnel (i.e., performance management, corrective action, training, defining daily priorities, etc.)
  • Manage time and attendance for assigned personnel, including timecard approval or paid time off
  • Oversee the hiring of personnel (i.e., collaborate with Human Resources recruiters, perform interviews, select qualified talent, etc.)
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned.
