About The Position

Engineering Robotics Manager - Electrical & Firmware leads and manages the electrical and firmware engineering team for the robotics group. Responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts across different engineering disciplines. Responsible for making critical decisions that have a large impact on projects and engineering initiatives. Develop and foster engineers to think innovatively, hold accountability, and process improvement on a daily basis. Provides advanced, technical leadership within the electrical engineering department/platform. As the team leader they are responsible for the launch of the first JLG robotic systems in construction sites.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with eight (8) or more years of related experience or Accredited Masters degree in Engineering or related field with six (6) or more years of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Accredited Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience of CAN and/or CANOpen protocol, RS485, SPI, I2C and Ethernet
  • Hands-on Experience with designing, building robotic systems.
  • Able to understand the relationship between power systems, sensors and firmware applications
  • Comfortable with wiring harness, should be capable to wire an entire robot alone
  • Experience in functional safety (PL, SIL)
  • Proficient in C and MCU programming, real-time OS, JTAG and debugger.
  • Experience in battery powered vehicles (1 kW or more)
  • Designed and assembled multiple PCB on a complex CAD software (Kicad or Altium preferred)
  • High level documentation clarity

Responsibilities

  • Lead an engineering team consisting of engineers across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate business and product strategy to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide coaching and development for the team including exposure to workforce planning, succession planning, resource allocation, horizon planning, conflict resolution, people first leadership.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to achieve strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to present and defend technical engineering decisions to Engineering leadership, Oshkosh leadership, and external customers.
  • Develop engineering goals and strategic plans for the robotic product line.
  • Conduct the research necessary to be an advocate for new technologies/products that will enable the business.
  • Identify and provide potential innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Act as a key influencer in technical decisions regarding new technology.
  • Collaborate in establishment of the technical base line and technical engineering vision.
  • Interface with customers/suppliers to resolve complex technical issues to provide the business with innovative, industry leading solutions.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
  • Regular attendance is required.
