About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as a Vacuum Interruption Technology Expert. In this role, you will support our vacuum interrupter business and its customers through research, development, and application expertise. You will drive technology innovation, support manufacturing and product development, and collaborate globally to advance our vacuum interruption technology and product portfolio. Establish yourself as a subject matter expert in vacuum interruption technology through ongoing R&D work and practical application. Lead the development of new vacuum interrupter products by leveraging Voice of Customer (VOC) insights. Drive innovation and contribute to the creation of value‑added intellectual property. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies in the field and attend industry conferences to support technical visibility of the Vacuum Interrupter Product Line. Become familiar with relevant IEEE and IEC standards and participate in IEEE Switchgear Committee activities. Develop a deep understanding of the Vacuum Interrupter manufacturing process to: Contribute to plant cost‑out initiatives. Support manufacturing troubleshooting and new process development. Develop an understanding of customer products and applications to provide timely support for quality‑hold resolutions and failure analyses. Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and globally distributed teams across the Power Components Division to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in designing, developing and testing vacuum arc and/or vacuum interrupter technologies
  • Master's degree/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution
  • Research experience in vacuum arc and/or MV breaker/switchgear related product development, manufacturing and testing
  • Hands-on experience in developing and testing vacuum interrupter/breakers and MV switchgear
  • Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members
  • Active in relevant codes and standards committees or author of publications in vacuum arc and/or medium‑voltage breaker/switchgear fields.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and problem‑solving methods.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, self‑motivated, and goal‑oriented.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative, with the ability to succeed in a global, diverse, team‑oriented environment.
  • Acts consistently with integrity—ethical, open, honest, and trustworthy.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of vacuum interrupters and vacuum‑interrupter‑based switchgear.
  • Proficient with design and simulation tools including Creo, Maxwell, and MATLAB.
  • Understanding of vacuum technology, materials/metallurgy engineering, surface chemistry, and brazing.
  • Customer‑focused with strong relationship‑building skills.
