About The Position

The Drilling Engineering Technician will report directly to the Appalachia Division Drilling Engineering Manager and is responsible for supporting the Drilling Engineering staff with any functions including, but not limited to, data management, process/workflow improvement & optimization, well design/modelling, and reporting. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: 4-year degree in math, physics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering (non-petroleum), or most physical sciences
  • Minimum Experience: 1+ year of applicable experience in data/analysis or technical support preferred
  • Strong/Advanced computer skills and above average analytical skills
  • Works well in collaborative environment
  • Self-Starter with good work ethic and attention to detail
  • High level of accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Skills: Teamwork, Written and verbal communication, Problem Solving, Strong MS Office Skills, Attention to detail, SQL querying, relational database systems

Responsibilities

  • Data Management
  • Develop, maintain, present key results for Drilling KPI/metrics using SQL, Python, Power BI, Spotfire
  • WellView data management (data QA/QC, data entry, SQL querying)
  • Support Drilling team with preparation of key presentations at Business Reviews, internal presentations, industry events
  • Optimize current MS Excel-based databases
  • Support Drilling Engineering workflows
  • Develop workflow & process enhancement tools for cost tracking, cost reporting, rig surveillance, regulatory agency reporting
  • Creation of drilling program, AFE, capital expenditures, other engineering projects
  • Drilling engineering modelling (torque & drag, hydraulics)
  • Coordinate with other teams (Geology, Planning, Regulatory, Land, Completions, Production, Facilities, Environmental Compliance)
  • Review, reconcile, approve drilling engineering invoices
