All previous applicants must reapply to be considered. This posting is for an Engineering Technician II in the Forsyth County Maintenance Department. This position will assist in the inspection of commercial driveway permits, right-of-way utility encroachments, erosion control, traffic control devices, and roadway construction. This position may also be required to inspect contractor performance including guardrail repairs, long arm mowing and roadside mowing. Performs routine inspection on a variety of projects to ensure general compliance with plans and specifications. Submits required records, reports & diaries within specified time frame. Employee will be subject to both inside and outside extreme environmental conditions, in addition to hazards at highway construction sites, including heavy equipment and highway traffic. Must obtain and keep current QMS Asphalt & Concrete Testing Certifications, Roadway Density Certifications, and Erosion Control Certificates Levels II & III. Physical activities include but are not limited to standing, walking, talking and hearing. Must be able to effectively communicate the English language. Exposed to extreme conditions such as ice, snow, difficult terrain, dust, extreme heat and cold, high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety-toed shoes required.
