One of our clients in Oklahoma, OK , needs an Engineering Technician III for a contract position. We are seeking an Engineering Technician III to support FAA ad hoc cabling projects at the Oklahoma City FAA Tech Center. This position provides telecommunications and structured cabling support for FAA facilities, including installation, routing, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation of copper and fiber infrastructure. The role supports project-based tasking in accordance with FAA requirements, applicable industry standards, and established safety procedures. Engineering Technician III will perform cabling and infrastructure support activities associated with operational, administrative, and technical environments. Work may vary based on Government-approved project requirements, site conditions, and facility access.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, or related technical installation projects.
  • Experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and/or fiber cabling systems.
  • Ability to interpret cabling requirements, site instructions, floor plans, and labeling schemes.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation best practices.
  • Ability to perform accurate installation documentation and certification reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a field support team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required FAA facility access credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Install, route, terminate, label, test, and document structured cabling systems in FAA facilities.
  • Support installation of copper and fiber LAN drops in office, communications, equipment room, and related technical environments.
  • Install and support Category 6A cabling, patch panels, faceplates, jacks, cable management hardware, cable trays, ladder racks, and J-hooks.
  • Perform termination and certification of cabling in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Ensure all cable runs, terminations, and patch panels are properly labeled and documented.
  • Provide testing and certification results for completed cable installations.
  • Support closeout documentation, including floor plan updates, labeling records, and installation results.
  • Maintain professional installation practices, including appropriate cable routing, slack management, and cable separation.
  • Coordinate with Subsystem Technologies management, project leads, and Government personnel regarding project execution, access, and completion status.
  • Follow all applicable FAA, OSHA, DOT, and telecommunications industry codes, standards, and worksite safety requirements.
  • Support work in technical facilities, administrative spaces, communications rooms, ceilings, conduits, and other infrastructure environments as required by project scope.
