About The Position

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN IV This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will be working in varying temperatures of high heat in the summer and cold in the winter preforming the following tasks: Job Description 1. Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and related devices. 2. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in order to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems. 3. Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment. 4. Modifies circuitry to improve performance. 5. Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems. 6. Provides operation/maintenance instruction to customer personnel. 7. Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation. 8. Works with engineering staff to determine and solve equipment design problems. 9. Performs quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians. 10. Provides work leadership to less-experienced technicians. 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. 12. Participates in special projects as required. 13. Installation and maintenance of a Fiber Optic cables onboard naval ships. 14. Splice and Terminate fiber optic cables. 15. Perform fiber tests: OTDR, power meter/laser source, and scopes.

Requirements

  • Electrician
  • Ship Building
  • Shipyards
  • 3 + years of related experience
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Cableway Certified
  • Connertor Certified Modular, COAX, Multi-Pin, Connector Fabricator and Inspector, Connector Trained and Qualified with 40 hours OJT
  • Fiber Optic Cable Handling, Pulling, Forming/Shaping, BOF, Single/Multi, Optical Testing, Fusion Splicing Supervisor & QA, BOF Licensed Installer.
  • WAF Tagout qualified.
  • Associates of Arts/Associates of Science.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
