Requirements

  • Technically skilled with hands‑on experience in combat/weapon‑systems equipment maintenance. Proficient with test equipment, optical aids, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Comfortable developing or modifying test software/scripts (Linux, LabVIEW, Visual Basic, etc.). Able to work independently with minimal supervision and lead others when needed.
  • Strong communicator who can engage SMEs and engineering teams to resolve complex issues. Detail‑oriented, with the ability to document work accurately using electronic tools.
  • Self-starter with flexibility to support changing requirements in a demanding, dynamic test environment. Ability to adapt current skills, knowledge, and experience to evolving technology.
  • Fire Control System (FCS) Tech experience
  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and perform system upgrades to ACS (Aegis Combat System) elements and AWS (Aegis Weapon System) elements at CSEDS.
  • Ability to research technical manuals, specifications and drawings in support of Aegis baseline developmental testing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD --Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • 5 years of experience as a technician or similar role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with U.S. Navy shipboard radar and weapon systems , such as AN/SPY-1, AN/SPS-67, or AN/SPQ-9B, Vertical Launch (VLS), Gun Weapons (GWS), Underwater Weapons (UWS) systems, Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) or shipboard communications & data systems a plus.
  • Experience or familiarity with Linux/Red Hat (RHEL) operating system.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard work shifts, if needed.
  • Proficient in the use of advanced electronic test equipment: Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, and Power Meters.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to combat and weapon‑systems equipment casualties.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify failed modules or components, and repair by replacing the faulty parts.
  • Use special‑ or general‑purpose test equipment, tools, optical aids, and other techniques during troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Assist system engineers with practical and technical knowledge on assigned equipment and systems, performing work with minimal supervision.
  • Develop test software code or scripts (e.g., Linux, LabVIEW, Visual Basic, etc.) as needed.
  • Support test events for RI equipment: configure hardware/software, operate equipment, insert faults, and evaluate performance.
  • Operate general and special‑purpose test equipment in support of test events and related activities. Direct other personnel in duties related to assigned equipment when required.
  • Document equipment maintenance using electronic documentation tools and perform upgrades per configuration management or supervisor direction.
  • Liaise with subject‑matter experts, engineering agencies, and other stakeholders for assistance on maintenance, fault investigation, and troubleshooting.
