About The Position

Purpose of Role Rehrig Pacific Companys Engineering Technicians are an integral part of our manufacturing operations and are responsible for executing technical work to support goals related to safety, process improvement, and automation. They are expected to work collaboratively with other departments, and to create safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing processes. This role is focused on hands-on problem solving and working proactively with the daily functions of the manufacturing plant. Areas of Accountabilities Support plant operations by implementing automation and new plant equipment Perform efficient changeover and programming of automation during product changeovers. Implement collaborative robots and other automation to reduce operational labor dependencies and reduce operational risks. Troubleshoot robotic, automation, and technological problems during normal production. Support implementation of new technologies. Design, improve, and maintain local fleet of robotic EOAT utilizing innovative technologies to increase reliability and efficiencies. Use mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other skills to design and build new automation work cells. Supports new product development as it enters the manufacturing plant. Start/stop and troubleshoot injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Improve plant safety Improve plant safety through assigned safety projects and working collaboratively with Safety and Plant Management. Maintain an advanced understanding of safety policies and expectations and demonstrate this in their work. Demonstrate safety engagement within the plant and actively participate in safety events and safety committee meetings. Continuous Improvement Executes initiatives to reduce deployment times for collaborative robots, automation, and IMM robotic changeovers. Develops and performs initiatives to reduce machine cycle time tied to robotics and automation. Implements improvements to existing automation, auxiliary equipment, and other technologies through mechanical, electrical, and PLC programming skills. Maintains updated understanding of latest plastics and robotic technologies. Assists in the implementation and support of best practices and national standards driven by local and national teams.

Requirements

  • Experience working with machinery, hydraulics, and automated systems, including reading prints.
  • Experience with hand and power tools
  • Excellent communicator (verbal & written) and an ability to summarize and communicate information clearly.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree or degree in Engineering (Preferred)
  • Project management experience
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving tools
  • Ability to program PLCs (Preferred)
  • Understanding of robot Programming (Preferred)
  • Experience designing and building electrical enclosures
  • Fabrication experience (Preferred)
