About The Position

Madison Energy Infrastructure (“MEI”) believes in the power of clean energy infrastructure and has quickly emerged as a preeminent developer, investor, asset owner, and operator of distributed generation. This role represents a critical next step in MEI’s evolution toward offering direct, end-to-end services to Fortune 500 corporates, public entities, nonprofits, and other private customers alike. As a Summer 2026 Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting high-impact initiatives within the Engineering team. This role is designed to provide meaningful exposure to the clean energy industry, real project ownership, and the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing organization.

Requirements

  • Rising undergraduate Junior or Senior pursuing a BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering field (Class of 2027 or 2028)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated interest in clean energy, infrastructure, grid systems, and construction
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Ability to make sound assumptions from incomplete or high-level data
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute meaningfully to a team

Responsibilities

  • Support technical due diligence for rooftop and ground-mount PV projects
  • Perform iterative early-stage design to balance production, yield, and capacity—directly supporting project value optimization
  • Assist with preliminary system layouts (equipment selection, stringing assumptions, etc.)
  • Learn about utility interconnection process, attending utility scoping calls
  • Lead the intake form and coordination process for estimating (CAPEX) requests
  • Maintain and update internal tracking tools
  • Support the review of third-party deliverables
  • Assist with preliminary system layouts
  • Participate in site visits, document field conditions, generate post-visit summaries
  • Learn about risks and constraints within engineering scope that impact project cost, schedule, or viability
