About The Position

Teach on-campus (face-to-face) composition courses (including ENG 111), applied and professional writing courses, and other courses as needed. Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs. Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field. Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities. Contribute to student growth and development including student advising. Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Salary Range: $64,963 - $186,620; Commensurate with Rank, Qualifications and Experience

Requirements

  • PhD in English or closely related field, with specialization in composition and rhetoric or technical communication.
  • Evidence of degree completion by date of appointment.
  • College teaching experience, including upper-division applied and professional writing courses (such as ENG 439: Technical Writing and/or ENG 440: Professional Editing)
  • The successful candidate must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States by the day employment begins.

  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness, including evidence of ability to produce effective writing course syllabi and course materials.
  • Strong writing skills, as reflected in teaching materials and other application materials.
