About The Position

The Teacher-English Learner Education is responsible for designing and implementing language instruction, provides support and guidance for Multilingual learners (MLLs), and collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory
  • knowledge of second language acquisition patterns and best practices in English language development
  • possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home
  • ability to develop and maintain a positive relationship with students
  • knowledge of special education law and regulations
  • ability to use time effectively
  • good organizational skills
  • ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors)
  • knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents
  • ability to lead meetings
  • ability to help groups achieve consensus
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as an ELL/ESL teacher

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a language instructor of multilingual learners is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and provides tools, resources, technical assistance, and instruction to ensure that students have the support to acquire a new language.
  • Plans and delivers lessons in English language development.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of MLLs across content areas.
  • Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and ensure student achievement.
  • Personalizes instruction as necessary to account for individual student differences.
  • Utilizes appropriate assessment strategies to measure learning and performance.
  • Provides equity in the classroom by providing equal opportunity for students regardless of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, background, and abilities.
  • Communicates with and constantly strives to maintain a positive relationship with students and parents.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom.
  • Organizes the classroom to promote learning, student safety, and ensures classroom equipment functions in a safe manner.
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the
  • Responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment by enforcing school rules in hallways, on the grounds, and other areas of the school.
  • Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations, coursework, workshops, and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees, taskforces, in-depth studies, or councils).
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model.
