About The Position

The Enterprise / Solution Architect is responsible for evaluating UOSA’s current technology ecosystem—including SCADA, CMMS, GIS, ERP/financial systems, LIMS, collaboration tools, and other operational platforms—and designing the target state architecture needed to support integrated digital operations. This role defines the future state technical blueprint, ensures interoperability across IT and OT systems, and establishes the architectural foundations required to execute UOSA’s digital transformation roadmap. Evaluates existing platforms such as SCADA, CMMS, GIS, ERP, and other systems and designs the target-state architecture required for integrated digital operations. Essential for defining the future-state architecture and ensuring interoperability across operational and IT systems.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or system integration for large-scale environments.
  • Strong familiarity with utility-sector OT environments (SCADA, process control), IT/OT convergence, and enterprise platforms similar to those used by UOSA.
  • Demonstrated experience designing future state architectures supporting digital transformation, workflow digitization, and advanced analytics.
  • Deep knowledge of system integration patterns, data architecture, cloud/on prem hybrid models, and API/ETL frameworks.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks including NIST 800 53 and 800 82.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to present architecture concepts to diverse audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with public sector or critical infrastructure organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Current-State Architecture Assessment Conduct a comprehensive technical evaluation of UOSA’s existing platforms, including SCADA (AVEVA/InTouch and PI Systems), CMMS (JD Edwards + Rinami Cantara), GIS (Esri ArcGIS), HR/Payroll (UKG), Document Management (PolicyTech, FIMS), LIMS, eLogger, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 tools. Analyze current levels of integration, data flows, system redundancy, and utilization of each platform. Identify technical debt, unsupported components, security gaps, and opportunities for modernization.
  • Target-State Architecture Design Define a future state architecture aligned with UOSA’s digital transformation objectives, organizational goals, and operational processes. Design end to end architecture that enhances interoperability between OT (SCADA, PI, process control) and IT systems (CMMS, ERP, GIS, HR, LIMS, etc.). Establish standards for system integration, APIs, data exchange, cloud/on prem hosting, and platform governance. Recommend architectural patterns for visualization, advanced analytics, mobility, workflow digitization, and document management modernization.
  • Integration Strategy & Interoperability Develop an integration framework enabling data sharing across SCADA, LIMS, CMMS, ERP, GIS, and collaboration platforms. Define data architecture and metadata standards to support centralized dashboards, predictive models, and unified reporting. Ensure alignment with future initiatives such as predictive analytics, digital twins, and cross platform operational dashboards.
  • Support for Governance & Roadmap Initiatives Collaborate with the Digital Transformation Lead to ensure the architecture aligns with the Integrated Technology Governance Program and Digital Maturity Roadmap. Provide architectural input for project intake, prioritization, and system lifecycle management guidelines. Contribute to development of KPIs, evaluation criteria, and decision-making processes within the governance structure.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance Alignment Ensure architectural decisions incorporate NIST 800 53 and 800 82 considerations for IT and OT environments. Address cybersecurity vulnerabilities identified during assessment and proposed resilient design approaches. Support alignment with UOSA’s policies, operational constraints, and technology governance standards.
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration Provide expert-level guidance to ITS personnel, operational divisions, engineering, laboratory, and administrative departments. Translate complex architectural concepts into clear guidance for decision makers, project teams, and non-technical stakeholders. Support vendor selection, procurement planning, and solution evaluation.
