The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Enterprise Systems Engineer for the Portfolio Analysis Department (PAD) in the Enterprise Effects Division (EED). This is an onsite opportunity in either El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO. The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace’s strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities. As part of the Enterprise Design Subdivision (EDS), the Portfolio Analysis Department (PAD) drives responsive and comprehensive trades in customer portfolios. Working closely with corporate program offices PAD delivers portfolio decision insights that expand options for senior leaders and accelerates delivery of end effects. PAD integrates expertise, system analysis and design capabilities from across the corporation. To meet the increasing demand for our support, we are looking for an Enterprise Systems Engineer to contribute to a variety of defense, intelligence community, and civil government customers. This position will be required to work full-time on-site at Aerospace’s El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or other related technical discipline
  • 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering or other space-related engineering disciplines
  • Experience in systems engineering, enterprise systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, and/or digital engineering
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Take initiative, have flexibility, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well adept at oral and written communication
  • Available and willing to travel domestically, approx. 5-10%
  • 8 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering or other space-related engineering disciplines
  • Proficient with MBSE modeling languages such as System Modeling Language (SysML) and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, SparX Enterprise Architecture, and Rhapsody
  • Experience with architecture frameworks such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or other related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership of broad multidisciplinary teams conducting technical evaluations of complex systems; cost, schedule and risk analysis; portfolio-level trade studies; and requirements development
  • Experience with and/or working knowledge of the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) span of technical capabilities and organizational construct
  • Experience with DoD systems engineering and programmatic processes, methods, tools, and personnel
  • Experience briefing senior Government leaders (General Officer and/or SES/SIS)
  • Active TS//SCI security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise engineering and analytical support to defense, intelligence community, and civil government customers in portfolio management, digital engineering, and enterprise systems engineering
  • Engage directly with Aerospace program office personnel as well as government customers
  • Support the deployment or implementation of existing tools, models, and frameworks
  • Identify new capabilities and enhancements that will better support the customer programs and architectures
  • Support studies designed to solve complex problems and provide new and innovative technical solutions
  • Take initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems and recommend courses of action
  • Utilize Aerospace resources, teams, and expertise on the effective use of MBSE methodologies, modeling languages, and tools
  • Lead and support studies designed to solve technical problems to provide recommendations to the customer
  • Leverage Aerospace’s technical backplane to provide tailored, technical support and innovative solutions for customer-specific use cases
  • Provide ongoing technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors
  • Provide mentoring and oversight to early career staff, as necessary
  • Occasional travel may be required
