Entry Level CAD Technician
About The Position
GFT is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Entry Level CAD Technician to join our Transportation group in Kansas City, MO. This role follows a remote work model. What you’ll be challenged to do: The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and plans to support a variety of engineering freight rail projects. This role involves working closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality work that meets project specifications and industry standards. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience in transit & rail or transportation projects.
- Demonstrated interest in roadway, transportation, or related infrastructure through prior internships, work experiences, or applied academic coursework.
- Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in CADD Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed technical drawings and plans for transit and rail projects.
- Collect and analyze field data to support the design and development of project plans.
- Utilize advanced CADD software to produce construction documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and other design team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
- Interpret and apply design manuals, guidelines, and standards, with support and review from senior staff as needed.
