KBR has an excellent opportunity to serve as a software developer on the Simulation Engineering team at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center (JSC). The position supports the development and maintenance of the Training Systems (TS) applications supporting the Communication and Tracking System (C&T) within the facility. The C&T Software currently supports the ISS, Gateway, Human Landing System, Artemis, and other future space vehicles, components, and next generation spacesuits.

Requirements

  • B.S. in computer science, engineering, or related degree.
  • Software development experience using C++ with UNIX or Linux skills are required.
  • Candidate must have programming experience and knowledge in developing software applications.
  • Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong initiative, teamwork and problem-solving skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in Python, Qt, Trick, and Agile software development methods are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate must have good problem-solving experience using computer programming and experience in C++ software development.
  • Candidate must be able to perform simple and complex software builds and integrate software with other developers.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively and coordinate actions with both internal and external customers.
  • Primary responsibility will be software development and maintenance of the real-time simulation software associated with the S-Band & Ku Band, video, telemetry commutation and de-Commutation, loss of signal/acquisition of signal modeling, and propagation effects for the Communication and Tracking (C&T) system in the TS facility.
  • The applicant will be responsible for supporting real-time simulation and firmware emulation for data processing and tracking.
  • Applicants will also work with the users to determine requirements, system limitations, impacts and flight-training readiness associated with the software systems.
