About The Position

The Environmental, Health & Safety Business Partner will be a key strategic partner to the Vice President, Real Estate and Environmental, Health, Safety & Security in driving RB Global’s commitment to an unyielding culture of safety across the organization. This role will oversee the development, implementation, and execution of comprehensive safety and environmental strategies, lead safety audits and assessments, and ensure the effective delivery of safety and environmental training and initiatives. The Environmental, Health & Safety Business Partner will also play a critical role in shaping the safety and environmental performance of field-based teams, and partnering with the HR team for employee related compensation claims

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
  • Must be able to drive company or personal vehicle to review driver performance, and for other company related purposes.
  • Work extended hours regularly, including weekends and holidays as required especially around live auction dates.
  • Must be able to: Use full range of hearing, speech, and vision. Use fingers (manual dexterity) handling paperwork. Stoop, crouch, squat, or kneel when performing inspections of any type. Bend at knee, hip, waist when performing duties. Stand while performing inspections and platform training. Be subject to wet, cold, or hot environmental condition

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and execution of global safety initiatives, providing strategic direction to elevate safety standards across all operations.
  • Establish long-term safety goals that align with RB Global’ s business goals and continuously monitor the effectiveness of safety programs.
  • Direct and conduct comprehensive safety audits, risk assessments and site inspections of field operations to identify risks and non-compliance; ensuring rigorous compliance with safety regulations, standards, and internal policies.
  • Proactively name risks and lead mitigation efforts to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Analyze and evaluate the safety performance of field teams, using key performance indicators (KPIs) to name areas for improvement.
  • Support field operations to ensure that safety and environmental performance metrics are achieved each month.
  • Ensure that safety is a top priority for all employees.
  • Foster an environment of accountability, openness, and collaboration, where every individual feels responsible for their safety and the safety of others.
  • Record, investigate and review incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Report on safety performance and strategic initiatives to senior leadership and key stakeholders, providing regular updates and actionable insights to inform decision-making.
  • Lead safety-related communications and ensure that safety goals align with business goals
  • Research, develop, implement and monitor safety and environmental requirements, and ensure that operational policies, procedures and best practices are based on these.
  • Drive and uphold RB Global’ s safety culture, ensuring that safety performance is not only compliant but also a competitive advantage.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, stakeholders, and communities affected by RB Global’s operations.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous safety improvement, driving culture change and fostering an initiative-taking safety mindset.
  • Travel required on a “as needed basis” – up to 50% of time.
  • Make authoritative decisions on how regulations are interpreted, operationalized, and enforced across diverse sites, ensuring consistent compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Manage compliance with regional EHS policies, performance metrics, and operational requirements, ensuring that field operations consistently meet or exceed internal and external standards.
  • Analyzing performance data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to drive a culture of continuous improvement, enhance safety, environmental sustainability and overall performance in the organization.
  • Assures compliance with the company’s leading indicator submissions, and review and confirm data before submission.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Address gaps in reporting and develop solutions for consistent compliance.
  • Assure completion of the companies’ safety training by applicable staff
  • Direct the response, investigation approach, corrective actions, and risk-reduction strategies for major safety, environmental, and compliance incidents with potential regulatory, financial, or reputational impacts.
  • Identify potential hazards in the workplace and assess their associated risks. This requires problem-solving skills to recognize and evaluate risks effectively, considering factors such as the likelihood of an incident, potential consequences, and available control measures.
  • Identify patterns in leading indicators, operational data, and external trends to predict potential risks and proactively implement preventive controls before issues escalate.
  • Staying compliant with complex environmental, health, and safety regulations can present challenges. Problem-solving skills are necessary to interpret regulations, identify gaps in compliance, and develop strategies to address them.
  • Find solutions to ensure compliance while balancing operational requirements.
  • Identify gaps, interpret ambiguous or evolving regulations, and determine practical, compliant solutions for diverse operational environments.
  • Continuously improving safety and environmental performance. Problem-solving skills come into play when analyzing performance data, identifying trends or patterns, and developing strategies to enhance safety measures, mitigate risks, and promote sustainable practices.
  • Lead comprehensive root-cause analyses for significant safety/environmental events and develop strategic corrective actions that eliminate systemic failures.
  • Provide senior oversight for the review and documentation of safety violations.
  • Collaborate with the People team and Field leaders to recommend corrective actions, including retraining or disciplinary measures.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disciplinary processes in improving compliance and safety outcomes.
  • Establish and uphold company-wide standards for addressing safety violations consistently and fairly.
