About The Position

This intern will join the Administrative Services Division, Environmental Compliance Section, and will: Assist with waste recycling and shop care, data entry and reporting resulting from inspections and audits conducted across Denver Water facilities. Attend asbestos and lead-based paint sampling field studies as an assistant. Provide filing assistance for hazardous waste manifest storage. Assist with educational outreach and development of messages for Denver Water regarding stormwater protection, hazardous waste management, asbestos sampling and reporting, erosion prevention, etc. Assist with drafting environmental assessment reports Assist with Environmental Management System documentation

  • Willingness to be coached and learn new skills and topics daily
  • Flexibility to have task change at last minute due to emergency needs
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability/desire to work independently as well as in groups
  • The candidate must currently be a student attending college/university or must have graduated in the last six (6) months.
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate level student majoring in chemistry, environmental sciences, biology, environmental policy, or a related field.
  • Current Colorado driver’s license “R”, with a satisfactory driving record required.
  • A background check including education and criminal history.
  • A motor vehicle background check.
  • A pre-placement clinic appointment which may include a physical, drug and alcohol test, strength test, and worker’s compensation background test.
