Step Into Your Next Role Staff Professional, Environmental Compliance Kleinfelder is looking for the right person to join our Environmental Compliance practice in southern California. This position will be based out of our downtown Los Angeles office. This is an exciting and challenging position that requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a highly organized and responsive candidate, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities. Expectations include: Responsible for the execution of multi-media environmental compliance tasks in California on commercial, industrial and construction projects, including air quality permitting and compliance, storm water management, aboveground tank compliance, hazardous materials assessments. Must be able to work independently as an integral team member, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solve problems of diverse scope.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-8 years of related compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agency laws, regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience in the following: Wastewater permit applications, monitoring, and reporting NPDES (municipal MS4, construction, industrial, groundwater dewatering, other), SWPPP, SUSMP, TMDLs, water resource management plans, Caltrans WPCM, Drinking water regulations Hazardous waste management, permit by rule EPCRA Reports / Tier II / HMBP / CERS Air quality permit applications and reporting, Title V, SCAQMD and CARB rules and regulations Compliance auditing Aboveground /underground storage tanks compliance and SPCC plan development
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field.
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to obtain professional registration in California (e.g., PE) a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Designated UST Operator (DO) certification is desirable.
  • Advanced degree(s) preferred.
  • California State QISP, QSP/QSD, ToR, and/or WPCM, certifications preferred.
  • Professional License is not required, but preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Industrial and Construction Storm Water and other NPDES permit compliance, Wastewater permit compliance, Spill Prevention Control / Countermeasure Plans, Hazardous Materials Business Plans, Air Quality Permits/ Plans/ Reports, Compliance Audits, Tank Documentation, and other supporting technical studies.
  • Provide technical expertise on multiple tasks simultaneously within scope/schedule/budget
  • Work with the project manager to ensure quality is achieved on project deliverables.
  • May also perform site assessment and remediation tasks as necessary to support local client base.
  • Working with a senior mentor, help to identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active role in the development of new business with new and existing clients.
  • Help to develop and expand client relationships in area of technical expertise that generate repeat business.
  • Through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development, help to capitalize on existing client relationships to expand market share in the local market, while serving national/global clients as necessary.
