If so, the Food, Lodging, and Institution Section of Wake County Environmental Health & Safety Division would like to meet you! This is an opportunity to combine customer service skills, science knowledge, and a love of public health to serve the citizens and visitors of Wake County. You will be able to use your skillset to ensure that restaurants and other establishments meet sanitation/safety standards using education, conflict resolution, and enforcement strategies. Education of external and internal stakeholders during inspections and consultative visits will be a highly valued component of your work. Primary duties include: Performs inspections of food, lodging, and institutional facilities required by state rules and regulations Conducts foodborne and communicable disease outbreak investigations May inspect swimming pools and tattoo facilities Performs emergency response and complaint investigations Educates the general public concerning environmental and public health issues Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:15pm, some nights, weekends, holidays About Our Team At the heart of the Wake County Public Health department is a dedicated team of professionals committed to protecting and improving the health of our community.
