About The Position

The Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES) organization supports Boeing’s mission to connect, protect and explore our world and beyond, safely and sustainably. Our Environmental Due Diligence team has an outstanding opportunity for a strategic problem solver who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment. We are seeking an Environmental Due Diligence Engineer/Scientist (Mid-Level and Senior) to lead multiple complex environmental due diligence projects to support property and/or business transactions, and who will proactively manage with a focus on collaboration, project strategy, compliance and risk mitigation. This position is based in Seal Beach, CA, or Hazelwood, MO, and a minimum of three days per week in-office is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)
  • 3+ years of experience managing, overseeing, and directing suppliers on multiple concurrent EHS due diligence or remediation projects
  • 3+ years of experience identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and communicating environment health and safety risks associated with real property or business transactions
  • 3+ years of experience communicating, collaborating, and building consensus with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office suite applications

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experienced project manager and/or remediation engineer to conduct Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) due diligence assessments
  • Experience in conducting and directing supplier activities for Phase I and Phase II environmental due diligence assessments of industrial sites
  • Experience with All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI) and ASTM 1527 and 1528
  • Experience managing multiple, concurrent environmental investigations of surface and subsurface media (soil, surface water and groundwater)
  • Experience with state and federal regulatory requirements and policy on remediation such as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulatory requirements (desired)
  • Strong leadership skills including working successfully with regulatory agency staff, leading diverse teams of technical and academic experts, consensus building and decision making on complex regulatory/technical matters, and coordination with other responsible parties and their contractors
  • Capability to work and communicate effectively with other internal and external organizations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) due diligence assessments identifying and quantifying EHS and sustainability risks, requirements, and opportunities, and evaluating and making risk and opportunity management recommendations associated with real property transactions of industrial sites (leases, purchases, sales, facility use agreements, etc.) and/or corporate mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures
  • Support transactional decision-making by preparing briefing reports for each transaction, communicating findings, providing risk management requirements and recommendations, and verifying post-transaction risk mitigation implementation
  • Conduct and direct supplier activities for Phase I and Phase II environmental due diligence assessments of industrial sites, with special focus on identifying environmental conditions and their associated risks, and developing risk mitigation recommendations
  • Manage multiple, concurrent environmental investigations of surface and subsurface media (soil, soil vapor, surface water, stormwater, groundwater, indoor air, and hazardous building materials)
  • Supports development of work plans, schedules, and cost forecasts; conducts project planning, tracks financial performance, directs and supervises contractors, and meets performance goals
  • Perform remediation-related tasks including development and management of investigation and remediation budgets
  • Provide financial and project status reviews to team leaders and management
  • Work effectively with other Boeing functions including planning and real estate, finance, legal, supplier management, communications and site services/facilities
  • Work successfully leading diverse teams of technical and academic experts
  • Support and/or make decisions on complex regulatory/technical matters, and coordinate with other responsible parties and their contractors
  • Apply knowledge of project management and/or engineering processes and practices to cost and schedule accuracy, remediation technology applications, and risk management to ensure that the technical integrity and business goals are achieved
