About The Position

The role of the Environmental Engineer is to promote and sustain our culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: interacting with the team to lead development, growth, and improvement of NSSED's Environmental programs; compliance administration/responsibility with all regulatory permits, licenses, rules, regulations, and programs; taking a lead role in plant-wide Environmental project management, sustainability efforts, training, and audits; and community outreach. Safety is the most importanty part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of applicable experience
  • Committed to working safely and promoting safety, health, and environmental stewardship
  • Superb organization and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with teammates at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to analyze and think strategically
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to manage and prioritize multiple projects successfully
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Candidates must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, chemical engineering or related degree
  • Environmental permitting and compliance experience in an industrial environment
  • Working experience with regulatory agencies
  • Experience with environmental management system development
  • Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office & Teams, Oracle, SharePoint, etc.
