About The Position

Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, and operation of battery energy storage assets in wholesale electricity markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary dispatch optimization applications to support both merchant and contracted structures. We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for responsible for day to day support of Jupiter Power’s environmental program for the entire operating fleet, including offices. This role will be based out of our Austin, TX office and is subject to our Company’s return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.

Requirements

  • Technical skills: Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, data analysis, and engineering principles related to environmental science.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Leadership: Capability to lead environmental and sustainability initiatives and motivate employees to prioritize EHS.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years previous industry experience in environmental work required.
  • Willingness to travel, as needed, to support site risk assessments, audits and training.

Responsibilities

  • Program development and implementation: Develops and implements comprehensive environmental and sustainability programs in accordance with legal requirements, tailored to the organization’s needs and ensures they are effectively communicated and enforced.
  • Conduct Environmental Assessments, site audits, inspections: Regularly evaluate the impact of human activities on the environment to identify potential risks and implement corrective measures.
  • Training and Education: Organize and conduct pertinent training programs for employees to promote awareness and adherence to environmental protocols. Able to instruct lithium-ion emergency response training to local firefighters.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the organization complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of environmental procedures, training sessions, compliance audits, correspondence and prepare reports for management.
  • Collaboration: Work with planners and entities concerned with environmental impact to address environmental issues and develop sustainable solutions.
  • Promote Safety Culture: Foster a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and encourages employees to report unsafe conditions or practices.
