About The Position

Sustainment & Restoration Services (SRS) is a Native American, tribally-owned small business. We are a full-service, multi-discipline environmental, engineering, construction support, munitions response, and specialized professional services company wholly-owned by the Oneida Nation as a subsidiary under Oneida ESC Group. Serving the federal market and civilian agencies, including US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Department of Defense, US Air Force, US Navy and Marine Corps, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), US Fish and Wildlife Service, and state and local customers. We collaborate with our customers to achieve long-term environmental stewardship goals with reduced life-cycle program costs. SRS is seeking a motivated Environmental Engineering Intern based out of our Ventura Office, to support remediation projects during the summer term. This internship offers hands-on experience in environmental site assessment, investigation, and remediation activities, working alongside experienced engineers and scientists on real-world projects involving soil, groundwater, and surface water contamination.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Completed coursework in environmental engineering, soil mechanics, groundwater, or contaminant transport (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of environmental remediation concepts and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork in varying weather and site conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or coursework related to environmental remediation or site assessment
  • Familiarity with sampling techniques and field equipment
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, GIS, or similar software)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental remediation projects, including site investigations and corrective action activities
  • Support fieldwork such as soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and remediation system monitoring
  • Collect, organize, and analyze environmental data
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, figures, and tables
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, state cleanup programs)
  • Participate in health and safety planning and adhere to site-specific safety protocols
  • Collaborate with project teams to support project planning, scheduling, and documentation
