The EHS Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across the organization. This role is accountable for ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal company standards. The EHS Manager will drive initiatives that foster a proactive safety culture, minimize risk, and promote environmental stewardship. This role requires onsite presence to effectively engage with employees, monitor workplace conditions, and provide hands-on leadership. The EHS Manager receives daily operational direction from the Vice President; however, ultimate oversight and authority for the safety program resides with the CEO.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to design, document, and improve EHS processes.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to communicate findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including executive management, department heads, and line employees.
  • Must have the ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
  • Valid driver's license and clear motor vehicle record.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple locations to ensure consistent implementation of safety policies and compliance standards.
  • Remain accessible outside of normal business hours to promptly address and resolve urgent safety concerns or incidents.
  • Some travel required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least three years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIP) or other comparable credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and state regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases, including timely reporting, coordination with insurance carriers, monitoring claims, and facilitating return-to-work programs to ensure compliance and minimize costs.
  • Serves as company liaison with federal, state, and local authorities in matters related to EHS programs.
  • Support internal audits, external audits, customer audits, and certification renewals, including coordination, preparation, and follow-up on action items.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, state/local) related to waste management, air quality, water discharge, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain environmental permits and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee occupational health programs, including ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and hearing conservation.
  • Coordinate medical surveillance and exposure monitoring as required.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all departments.
  • Manage and direct employee safety committee.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, environmental compliance, and training activities.
  • Support offsite personnel in meeting customer-imposed safety requirements, including reviewing site-specific safety plans, ensuring compliance with client standards, and providing guidance or training as needed.
  • Prepare reports for internal leadership and regulatory agencies.
