Job Summary  The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting Liberty Tire Recycling’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs through accurate data management, documentation, permitting support, and administrative coordination. This position helps maintain regulatory compliance, supports environmental and safety reporting, and partners with the Environmental Compliance Director and Safety leadership, field managers, and site leadership to ensure consistent implementation of the EHS initiatives across all facilities in the United States and Canada.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Ability to interpret data and create basic charts, tables, and written summaries.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain environmental or regulatory concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint and related software tools.
  • Self‑motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently.
  • Foundational working knowledge of environmental regulatory concepts related to air, water, and waste.
  • Ability to research and interpret regulations and apply them appropriately.
  • Exposure to or experience supporting environmental compliance inspections.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience with an emphasis on environmental compliance in industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or interest in occupational safety or risk management is beneficial.
  • Experience with data tracking systems, permit management tools, or structured recordkeeping processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support EHS compliance initiatives across all facilities in coordination with the Director of Environmental Compliance.
  • Assist with preparing, submitting, and tracking environmental permits including air, stormwater, wastewater, solid waste, and other regulatory approvals.
  • Coordinate with sites to ensure compliance with operating plans, inspections, sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Track environmental obligations related to stormwater, air permitting, waste management, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in developing and delivering environmental training materials to support operational awareness and compliance.
  • Support internal and external environmental audit processes and coordinate third‑party audit activities including documentation and follow‑up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain and improve environmental recordkeeping systems, compliance databases, and permit‑tracking tools.
  • Support accurate and timely environmental reporting by refining and improving internal data processes.
  • Respond to routine environmental inquiries and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including incident logs, training documentation, inspections, and corrective‑action tracking.
  • Assist with incident investigations by documenting findings and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and generate routine summaries of safety‑related performance metrics.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and basic analyses to support environmental and safety reporting.
  • Schedule and coordinate EHS training sessions, audits, meetings, and follow‑up activities with site teams.
  • Support Workers’ Compensation documentation and related reporting as needed.
  • Draft and update EHS‑related documents including SOPs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and program materials.
  • Maintain and update internal EHS resource libraries and document repositories.
  • Facilitate acquisitions environmental due diligence by maintaining secure data rooms with environmental and safety documentation, coordinate with third-party vendors, and assist with technical review of due diligence reports to identify potential liabilities.
  • Perform additional compliance or administrative support tasks as assigned.
