JOB SUMMARY: The responsibility of the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist/Trainer is to provide training to new employees, staff, and supervisors in all areas of safety and health. This role is responsible to manage all training records and confirm the staff is trained by OSHA regulations. Management of the emergency clinic and assist with first aid response. The EHS Specialist/trainer also facilitates the GEMBA audits & Safety Committee meetings for both plants. This role must be bilingual in Spanish and be able to translate written and spoken words. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: · Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safe practices through effective leadership. · Promotes continuous improvement of the hazard identification and safety risk assessment activities. · Runs the Safety Committee. · Return to Work Program (light duty) · Working with operations to reduce and prevent worker’s compensation claims · Administers new hire, and employee training to ensure compliance with governmental safety regulations and industry standards which include (not an all-inclusive list): Hazard Communication Program Exposure Control Program (Bloodborne Pathogens, TB) Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment Program (PPE) Program Lockout & Tagout (LOTO) Confined Space Entry Program Emergency Action Plan Conduct · Manages all safety training records electronically as well as physical documents for audit · Manages inspection records of all life safety equipment in facility for audit · Facilities the inspections, surveys, and audits of the workplace to identify and eliminate hazards from processes such as unsafe work methods and exposure to potentially hazardous materials · Provides and articulates information regarding safety issues within the facility. · Bi-lingual Spanish/English · Able to translate documents from English to Spanish or vice versa. · Acts as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to deliver safety information to the facility's staff, contractors, and stakeholders. · Analyses technical data for trends related to hazards, events, and occurrences. · Measures the effectiveness and seeks to continually improve the quality of the safety programs performing audits of LOTO, PPE and Industrial Hazards. · Engage and interact with all personnel on a regular basis assisting them with their concerns and questions. · Partner with other departments regarding the resolution of ongoing problems, the implementation of new procedures or process, the injection of new products or product lines, and the development of new plan and designs; approve procedures that require revisions from a safety standpoint. · Ensure good plant communication practices are engaged at all levels to ensure key stakeholders are well informed, can appropriately respond. · All the above is subject to change as needed to meet Organization’s needs. In addition, complete any other miscellaneous tasks requested by management.
