About The Position

Dudek is seeking an Environmental Scientist I with experience in Phase I ESAs; soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling and reporting; stormwater sampling and permitting support; and environmental monitoring experience. The role is specifically focused on data collection and analysis, and reporting. The environmental scientist will assist project managers with a variety of tasks, including planning and conducting field work; data review, processing, and input; and preparation of technical studies including environmental site assessments, sampling reports, and monitoring reports. The Environmental Scientist I will possess a foundational knowledge of environmental engineering, geology and/or hydrology principles; strong communication, time-management, critical-thinking, and technical writing skills; attention to detail; and a commitment to environmental protection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, hydrology, or environmental science field.
  • 1+ years of experience in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, hydrology or environmental science consulting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices and standard operating procedures for field and data collection and analysis
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for work, including overnight stays in hotels.
  • Ability to safely drive/operate a vehicle to/from and around field work sites during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, hydrology, geology, biology, ecology, botany, chemistry or related natural resources field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of field and data analysis techniques related to aquatic environments.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, hydrology, biology, ecology, botany, chemistry or related natural resources field.
  • Knowledge of California aquatic resource types and systems.
  • Experience with aquatic invertebrates and microscopy.
  • Experience with environmental site assessments
  • Experience with soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling
  • Experience with laboratories and other subcontractors (e.g., drillers)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER certification
  • Understanding of Arizona regulatory environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Phase I ESA reports, including conducting site reconnaissance, writing up findings, and preparing the photolog
  • Plan and conduct field work, and ensure data is collected per appropriate methods and procedures.
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure work is performed in accordance with project scope and client expectations
  • Safely and correctly operates and maintains field data collection equipment.
  • Review, evaluate, and process/input field and laboratory data
  • Prepare or assist with preparation of various environmental engineering, hydrogeologic, hydrologic, and stormwater reports including, but not limited to, environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring reports, water supply assessments, and hydrogeologic investigation reports.
  • Communicate results of assessments and investigations in written, oral, and graphical formats.
  • Understanding of and commitment to health and safety best practices
