Under the guidance of the Environmental Director, the Environmental Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the diverse functions of the Environmental Department. This includes work related to water and air quality, resource and land management, waste management, community outreach, and other environmental priorities of the Soboba Reservation particularly those tied to state and federal grant obligations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in environmental science and demonstrate proficiency in applying scientific methods to carry out fieldwork, data analysis, and program implementation across these focus areas. A key responsibility of this role is translating complex environmental concepts into accessible, culturally relevant educational materials that foster environmental awareness within the Soboba Tribal community. This may involve delivering presentations in schools, organizing community events, and leading public engagement initiatives. The Environmental Specialist will collaborate closely with tribal departments, as well as state and federal agencies, to develop and participate in environmental projects that benefit the Reservation. This dynamic position occasionally requires flexible hours, outdoor fieldwork, overnight travel, and the ability to manage a wide range of environmental tasks.
