About The Position

Equine Critical Care Service at Colorado State University is seeking veterinary locum coverage for our Equine Critical Care Service at our Johnson Family Equine Hospital. Successful candidates will supervise the clinical service, consisting of residents, house officers, and students. The service has 1 dedicated technician and is supported by anesthesia, ECC, Imaging, and other ancillary services. The Colorado State University (CSU) Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides 24/7 professional veterinary care to the public, communication with referring veterinarians and education to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Students. The mission of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital also strives to meet the goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the University through service, outreach and education of professional veterinary medical students, residents and interns.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in higher education, professional development, or healthcare setting
  • An Academic Veterinary License from CO DORA will be required to practice in this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience instructing veterinary students, interns, and residents in the diagnosis and management of Equine Critical Care cases in the clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical effort to the VTH to include active instruction to junior and senior Veterinary Medical students and participate in the clinical training of interns and residents rotating through the Equine Critical Care service.
  • Provide clinical supervision to the VTH to include participation in the Equine Critical Care services and backup support for residents, house officers, and students.
