The Cardiovascular and Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Units specialize in the post-operative acute care of patients undergoing heart surgery, open and endovascular thoracic and abdominal aneurysm repairs, as well as thoracic and other vascular surgical procedures. As Equipment Logistics Technician I, you will perform targeted activities within the Cardiovascular and Vascular ICUs to locate, retrieve, and redeploy medical equipment for timely processing and redistribution. You will also clean, evaluate, inspect, and deliver specified medical devices and equipment, including infusion pumps, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, DVT pumps, specialty beds, specialty carts, and procedural trays. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Must be able to walk long distances while pushing a cart of equipment/supplies.
  • Must be able to lift equipment in excess of 35 lbs.
  • Push/pull loaded carts of equipment in excess of 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, in writing, e-mail or in person.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hospital or logistics experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform targeted rounding in active patient areas to recover assets for processing and redistribution.
  • Clean, deliver, evaluate and inspect specified medical devices.
  • Document work activity in an electronic database.
  • Deliver and recover specialty carts and procedural trays.
  • May be required to order supplies and ensure adherence to unit/department budget
  • May be required to stock patient rooms or deploy supplies for use within unit/department
  • Other duties as assigned.
