About The Position
An Equipment Operator operates heavy-duty equipment safely for the construction, repair or maintenance of city streets, alleys and storm sewers. The open position is flexible based on skill-set and experience.
Responsibilities
- Operates various types of heavy-duty equipment, such as front-end loaders, excavators, sweepers, sanders, trucks, trailers etc. for the repair and maintenance of city roadways
- Assists in laborer duties, such as road and other patching using asphalt and cement
- Maintains traffic signs by placing, replacing and deciding where signs should go
- Performs preventative maintenance by greasing, oiling, and performing other duties on vehicles and equipment
- Performs after hours “on call” duties for sander operations or other emergencies
