About The Position

Overall Summary: The Equipment Technician II sets up, maintains, adjusts and troubleshoots lettershop production equipment. They ensure that deadlines and quality and quantity goals are met. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Coach, mentor, and train Equipment Technician 1. Identify and report unsafe conditions. Follow all safety related procedures, including Lock out/Tag out. Display moderate expertise on at least 2 processes or basic expertise on 3 or more processes. Perform minor equipment repair and preventative maintenance; uses advanced shop tools (drills, press, saw). Complete projects as assigned with moderate oversight. Identify intermediate issues and resolve them independently as possible. Analyze issues; determine and implement solutions. Provide innovative and creative solutions for opportunities and or improvements. Direct and take ownership for supporting new and less experienced team members. Independently identify and address quality defects and escalate issues to QA and Management. Model and encourage open communication within the team. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to read and write English and understand oral and written communications
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Works well in group problem-solving situations
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude; ability to quickly learn machine operations
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques to repair equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer proficiency preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred, or commensurate experience relating to the job required; trade school is a plus 1-2 years
  • 2-5 years of previous experience with mechanical troubleshooting experience on automated manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours
  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching
  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching
  • Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive assessment required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in print or direct mail equipment preferred
  • Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred
  • Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus
