Yellowstone Club’s Mountain Operations department is currently seeking candidates for the Erosion Crew for the upcoming Summer season! Our Summer employment months are June - September. POSITION SUMMARY: Storm Water Laborer crew members’ primary responsibility is to restore and maintain the chemical, physical and biological integrity of the Yellowstone Club in accordance with county, state and federal regulations. The implementation and maintenance of sediment controls, re-vegetation and noxious weed suppression will be the primary duties of this job. The work environment will mainly be sites of recent disturbance or development. The worker must be prepared to work outside for 10+ hours a day in adverse conditions. The ability to be very flexible is required as the worker will be put in a wide range of duties.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job function satisfactorily

Responsibilities

  • Has a basic understanding of machinery use (i.e. mini excavator, skid steer, chipper, straw shooter, etc.)
  • Understands the general road, trail, ski run layout of YC in both winter and summer environments.
  • A solid understanding of erosion control practices relating to storm water and snow melt run off.
  • YC or USFS type A sawyer certification requiring successful completion of the position task book which includes but not limited to:
  • Limbing and bucking assignments up to 2’ dbh tree.
  • Felling to primary lean up to 12” dbh tree.
  • Competent understanding of all aspects of chainsaw operations.
  • Able to at times work independently from crew to successfully achieve assigned work tasks, trouble shoot equipment problems and clearly communicate current and foreseeable problems.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Passes department chainsaw basic operator course and strives to work into timber faller classifications.
  • Carries a very high fitness level capable of working hard labor at high elevations routinely in adverse conditions for a 10+ hour shifts 4-5 days per week.
  • Construct, maintain and improve both new and established ski runs and hiking trails in a manner that is compliant with YC, State and Federal standards.
  • Adherence to all YC and Dept. safety standards.
  • Follow daily work assignments established by dept manager and crew supervisor.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • Work under the supervision of a crew supervisor.
