As an ERS Reliability Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our Energy Recovery Systems (ERS), including the Motor Generator Unit (MGU), Control Unit (CU/inverter), Energy Storage (ES/battery), and DC-DC converter, meet the highest standards of performance, durability, and efficiency in the most demanding racing environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, with a focus on electric vehicle powertrains or similar complex electromechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and reliability prediction techniques.
  • Experience with reliability testing methodologies and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and validation for EV powertrains.
  • Knowledge of battery management systems and high-voltage power electronics.
  • Familiarity with electric motor drives and their reliability considerations.
  • Understanding of thermal management in high-power density applications.
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze equipment failure data to identify patterns and trends in powertrain components.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying causes of problems in EV powertrains.
  • Develop and implement new procedures for monitoring and testing powertrain equipment.
  • Design and execute reliability tests for powertrain components, including thermal shock testing and power cycling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate reliability considerations into all aspects of powertrain design and development.
  • Perform complex simulations and analyses using industry-standard software tools like ETAP, PSCAD, LTspice, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Develop and refine reliability metrics and targets for powertrain components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) reports.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure component reliability meets or exceeds specifications.
