About The Position

Interns will join one of our dynamic teams based in Bristol, CT and contribute to meaningful work. The dates of this internship are June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026. If selected for this opportunity, you will be assigned to one of these teams: ESPN NEXT Support content creation for various properties, which may include studio shows such as SportsCenter, Get Up, First Take, NFL Live, and more. Pitch ideas, produce highlights and edit video elements for multiple properties. Observe multiple areas of content to gain an in-depth knowledge of content creation and storytelling. The ideal candidate will video editing experience and conversational knowledge of sports heavily covered by ESPN. Social Media Work closely with teammates to create and optimize posts for Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, and Facebook to engage sports fans in real time. Clip and edit short-form video highlights, create graphics using Photoshop for social platforms and pitch the most relevant stories of the day. Assist with compiling social analytics recaps and reports. The ideal candidate will have strong copyediting skills, solid news judgment and experience with photo editing tools. Graphics Playout Create and deliver graphics for studio shows and remote events, including templating team logos and athlete imagery for use across ESPN playout systems. Collaborate with Art Directors on both short‑ and long‑term creative assignments while contributing independently and as part of team‑based projects. Demonstrate strong attention to detail, including accuracy in spelling, grammar, and visual consistency across all deliverables. The ideal candidate will have fundamental skills Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and graphic design. A Portfolio or website showcasing examples of creative design work is required for consideration. Content Operation Contribute to the technical planning and execution of key summer events by shadowing and supporting a variety of technical roles. Gain hands-on experience operating and understanding studio and control room equipment while participating in technical and managerial meetings to support production workflows. Engage in professional skill development programs designed to build technical knowledge and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have previous internship experience relating to technical operations and experience with broadcast equipment. Programming & Acquisition C ontribute to the overall content scheduling strategy for ESPN across platforms related to ESPN's professional and college sports categories. C onduct ratings research and schedule shows across linear television and digital media networks. D evelop presentations and interface with various other ESPN departments regarding programming initiatives. The ideal candidate will have fundamental knowledge of the contract administration processes. Studio Directing Support assigned Studio Directors by ensuring all required materials, equipment, and sets are prepared, functional, and ready for production. Participate in pre‑production activities, including coordinating the availability of assigned talent, guests, and commentators. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in Studio Directing and bring foundational experience in communications, television production, or electronic journalism.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple sports, particularly those covered by ESPN, with the ability to discuss teams, leagues, and major events
  • Familiarity with ESPN content across multiple platforms, shown through awareness of key programming, products, and audience experiences
  • Proven leadership experience through professional roles, student organizations, extracurricular activities, or business environments
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with leaders and team members while responding effectively and positively in fast‑paced or high‑pressure situations
  • Junior year, returning to school in the Fall 2026 semester
  • Major or previous coursework in Broadcast, Communications, Journalism, Sports Media or related major preferred
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available from Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week . Some nights and weekends required for specific roles.
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in sports media, content creation or sports business operations
  • Working knowledge of the sports media landscape, including awareness of current business trends, platforms, and emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated passion for creative storytelling
  • Experience with photo and video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Avid, After Effects, Photoshop) for creative roles
