About The Position

In a custom equipment design and fabrication business, the Estimator will be responsible for supporting the Business Development team in compiling all labor, material, quality, and shipping costs associated with RFPs (Requests for Proposal) ATG is bidding.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all organization levels both internally and externally (customers and suppliers).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and thorough.1-2 years of experience using Adobe Pro software.
  • Intermediate MS Excel and MS Word user level experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings – mechanical, welding, assembly, and electrical.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Must be able to do basic math, unit conversions, and understand and convert units of measure in both metric and imperial.
  • MUST BE A US CITIZEN - In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. ATG is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of custom manufacturing is preferred.
  • Previous experience with CAD software to extract pertinent information preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical specifications, customer RFP and Scope of Work (SOW) requirements.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office software for estimating such as Excel and/or Word.
  • Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) from complex mechanical, weldment, and electrical drawings.
  • Read and interpret sketches and blueprints including weld symbols, GD&T and drawing material specifications.
  • Identify and track missing information, errors, and extraordinary requirements that may pose a risk to ATG.
  • Work closely with estimators, operations, engineering and procurement to support estimate development.
  • Communicate with customer’s technical teams when additional information or clarification is needed.
  • Clearly define project risks, exceptions and assumptions that may impact the project.
  • Develop bids/proposals for different proposal types: Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), Time and Material (T&M), Firm Fixed Price (FFP).
  • Work with ATG material and component suppliers to obtain accurate cost and lead time estimates.
  • Represent ATG in a professional, courteous manner.
